About Me

I'm a character man and a singer, actor, dancer. Great with comedy, strong in drama, too.

What excites me most about acting is great story-telling. I love to tell a story!

These are my passions:

  • Good comedy transcends cultures. We laugh at ourselves and we realize we are mostly all the same - which helps us embrace our differences

  • Laughter creates the same state in the brain as meditation - it is literally healing to the spirit and helps us stay centered and focused

  • Drama makes us feel less alone in our struggles

  • All kinds of fiction can increase our sense of empathy - and that's something we need more of in the world

  • Music and dance are inside us all

I'm lucky to do what I love and love what I do!

Born in New York City, I grew up in a small farming town near Albany, New York.

At the age of 7, I played the Changeling in a local college production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and I fell in love with acting!

I started piano lessons at age 9, and began a lifelong love of music, playing many instruments during my high school and college years. I still keep up with the piano.

After a one-year internship as an actor, singer, dancer, and assistant musical director at The Empire State Institute for the Performing Arts in Albany, I transferred to Boston University, where I received a BA in Literature with concentrations in Dramatic Literature of the British Renaissance and Modern British and American Dramatic Literature, as well as comparative lit in French and English - and a minor in Art History. (Years later, my teacher Bill Esper would tell our class how important it is for actors to study the humanities: art, history, music, and literature - to better understand the human condition. So my college curriculum helped prepare me for my career!)

After school, I began performing professionally, and have continued to work and hone my craft: I've had the privilege of studying with some of the best - acting with William Esper,  dance with Luigi, and voice with Victoria Clark and Tim Howard.

Among many exciting opportunities I've enjoyed, I'm particularly proud to have originated the dance program for hearing impaired children in the Boston chapter of Jacques D'Amboise's National Dance Institute - where I also enjoyed the pleasure of being Mr. D'Amboise's pianist of choice during his visits to Boston.

I've also been thrilled to have recorded many demo albums, including "Oh Henry's Lovers" written by Michael Valenti and Joe DiPietro, and a revised version of  Cole Porter's original score for "The Pirate."

In addition, composer Michael Valenti wrote the classical song cycle "Solitude" for me, which we recorded together! What an amazing honor!

My husband, television production accountant Michael Barrett, and I are based in Los Angeles - where we live with our dog and two cats. And I split my time between New York and Los Angeles.
